The reception, scheduled for Friday, July 18, 2025, will celebrate the achievements of Team Kwara athletes, with all medalists set to receive special recognition and rewards from the Governor. Details of the venue and time will be communicated in due course, according to the Commission.
In a major development, Governor AbdulRazaq will also address the long-standing sign-on fee debts owed to players and staff of Kwara United Football Club. These debts, inherited from previous administrations, will be fully cleared as part of the Governor’s commitment to promoting accountability and improving athlete welfare.
Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Bolakale Adisa Mogaji, who signed the official announcement, described the Governor’s gesture as a bold statement of support for sports development in the state.
“This event reflects the Governor’s unwavering belief in sports as a powerful tool for youth empowerment, unity, and socio-economic advancement. It is yet another example of his leadership in prioritizing athlete welfare and institutional integrity,” Mogaji said.
The Kwara State Sports Commission extended its appreciation to Governor AbdulRazaq and invited all members of the state’s sporting community to join in celebrating this milestone moment.
