Nigeria has officially released its final 12-player roster for the upcoming FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup, set to take place in Brno, Czech Republic, from July 12 to 20.
The team, comprising some of the nation’s brightest young talents, departed Abuja earlier this week following an intensive training camp at the MKO Abiola Stadium.
Nigeria will open their campaign on July 12 with a challenging clash against China — a fixture expected to set the tone for the group stage.
Leading the coaching crew is Head Coach Faustina Akhere Juliana, supported by Associate Head Coach Atonye Nyingifa and Assistant Coach Usuwa Chinedu Stone.
The trio will guide the team through what promises to be a demanding tournament against some of the world’s top youth sides.
Among the standout names on the roster is dynamic guard Toby Nweke, renowned for her sharp court vision and poise under pressure.
Francisca Chukwu, currently plying her trade in Italy’s Serie A2 with Treviso, adds valuable size and grit in the forward position.
Another promising inclusion is Momoluwa Tewogbade, whose versatility and all-around game mark her as one to watch.
With a balanced mix of size, speed, and technical skill, the team reflects the growing depth and development of Nigeria’s women’s basketball pipeline. Their participation underscores the country’s ongoing commitment to nurturing future stars and competing at the highest levels.
As the tournament approaches, fans and analysts alike will be eager to see how this new generation of Nigerian talent fares on the global stage
