After its session, the NFF Appeals Committee dismissed the allegations as unsubstantiated.
In its report, the committee stated, “In the absence of sufficient evidence to demonstrate that the match between Franceex United FC and Bison FC was fixed, and considering that both teams were denied a fair hearing, the NLO’s decision to cancel the results of the two matches is hereby set aside.” This ruling leaves open the possibility of an appeal.
Pastor Samuel R. Oyibo, President of ACT Sports di Oyibo FC Academy, expressed his relief after the ruling: “May the good Lord be praised.
“It was tough for the club to face such allegations. As a Pastor, I was convinced that we would overcome this, as I serve a living God.
“Match manipulation, in any form, is not in our DNA. We are a professional grassroots football team with a core mandate of developing talent and providing the best career pathways.”
