Former Fernebahce of Turkey defender, Bright Osayi-Samuel, has opened up and revealed the major reasons behind his shock move to a newly promoted second-tier outfit, Birmingham City of England.
Sports247 reports that Osayi-Samuel is relishing his move to Birmingham, with which he will line out this season in England’s lower division, but the versatile defender, who was born in Naples, Italy, is not bothered.

Rather than see the move as a step back, considering his top form in four years at Fernebahce and ability to hold down a regular starting spot under the eyes of legendary tactician, Jose Mourinho, Osayi-Samuel is relishing his new port of call.
Many analysts have dubbed Osayi-Samuel’s summer transfer to England’s lower division a step backwards for the 22-cap Super Eagles’ right-back, but the 27-year-old defender, who previously played for Blackpool and Queens Park Rangers of England, is cherishing the deal.
He disclosed further that he had to go through a lot of hurdles and obstacles in order to seal the deal, and now that it is finally done, he is already looking forward to justifying why the club that once had Obafemi Martins in their ranks moved energetically for him.
Osayi-Samuel stated, “I am delighted. There’s always a process before something like this can be done. So, I’m happy to be here, now that it’s done.”
He then disclosed his immediate targets with the English Championship returnees, who he admitted are eager to keep climbing, as they set their sight on reaching the top-flight at the end of this season.
The highly ubiquitous dark-skinned right-back added, “Now, I have to focus and play my football, to show the fans why I am here and that I love this project.
“I spoke to the owner and the manager. I told them my ambitions and what I want to do. They just got promoted, but now they are thinking big.”
Osayi-Samuel concluded by affirming that the main target on the mind of everyone at the Birmingham-based club is to gain promotion to the English Premier League at the end of the coming season, which he disclosed is also his own priority at Saint Andrew’s, where his new club play their home matches.
“It’s not just to compete, but to go straight up to the Premier League. Those are my ambitions, too. I want to play in the Premier League and show what I can do.
“I am happy that Birmingham City are giving me the platform to showcase my ability and ambition. Those are the main reasons why I decided to come here,” Osayi-Samuel concluded
