NLO: NFF Disciplinary Committee Orders Integrity Unit to Probe Franceex United vs Bison FC Match-Fixing Allegation, Sets Aside Cancellation of Results

The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Disciplinary Committee has nullified the Nationwide League One (NLO)’s decision to cancel the result of the match between Franceex United FC and Bison FC over allegations of match manipulation.

In a statement released by the NFF, the Disciplinary Committee ruled that the NLO acted without due process and lacked sufficient evidence to support the claims of match-fixing.

The match had drawn attention after Franceex United defeated Bison FC with a staggering nine goals, prompting suspicion from the league organizers.

Key Findings by the Committee:

1. The allegation of match-fixing was primarily based on the high scoreline (9-0) recorded in favor of Franceex United FC.

2. Franceex United FC was not given the opportunity to respond to the allegations at any point during the NLO’s investigation.

3. The official match report submitted by match officials made no mention of any irregularities or signs of match manipulation.

4. The NLO failed to present adequate evidence to substantiate the alleged case of match-fixing involving either club.

Decisions of the Committee:

1. The cancellation of the match results involving Franceex United FC and Bison FC by the NLO is hereby set aside due to lack of evidence and denial of fair hearing to both clubs. This decision stands pending the outcome of a new investigation.

2. Given the serious nature of match-fixing allegations, the NFF Integrity Unit has been directed to conduct a thorough and independent investigation into the matter.

3. These decisions do not affect the rights of the parties involved to appeal.

The ruling offers a temporary reprieve to both Franceex United and Bison FC, with the NFF reinforcing its commitment to due process and fair hearing in all disciplinary matters.
