Nigerian midfielder Zadok Yohanna has officially signed his first professional contract with Swedish top-tier club AIK (Allmänna Idrottsklubben), marking a major milestone in his football career.
The 18-year-old talent from Ikon Allah Football Academy in Kaduna State, Nigeria, has penned a 4.5-year deal with the club, keeping him in Stockholm until December 31, 2029.
Yohanna has been training with AIK’s U-19 squad in recent weeks and caught the eye with a goal in a friendly match against IF Brommapojkarna. AIK scouts had been monitoring his progress since earlier this year, with the club’s recruitment staff impressed by his technical skill, pace, and creativity on the ball.
“Zadok is an offensive midfielder who can play wide or centrally as a No. 10. He’s got quick feet, great dribbling, and a fine left foot.
We believe he has high potential to grow within our structure,” said AIK’s chief scout Fredrik Wisur Hansen, speaking to Fotbolltransfers.com.
The signing makes Yohanna AIK’s first confirmed summer acquisition. The club sees him as a long-term investment, with hopes he’ll eventually break into the senior team.
Speaking after signing, Yohanna said: “It’s an incredible feeling to sign my first professional contract with a big club like AIK. I’ve been warmly welcomed and I’m looking forward to developing further and contributing on the pitch.”
The move represents a dream come true for the young Nigerian, who now joins a growing list of African prospects making their mark in European football.
