The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially confirmed Zanzibar, Tanzania, as the host venue for Group D matches of the 2024 TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (CHAN), which includes Nigeria’s home-based Super Eagles, Sports247 reports.
The announcement follows comprehensive consultations with the co-hosting nations — Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda — marking a significant return of the tournament to East African soil for the first time since the 2016 edition held in Rwanda.

CAF also revealed that the 2024 CHAN tournament, which features national teams made up exclusively of players active in their respective domestic leagues, will take place from August 2 to August 30, 2025.

Opening Match: Benjamin Mkapa Stadium, Dar es Salaam, Tanzania – August 2, 2025
Third-Place Match: Mandela National Stadium, Kampala, Uganda
Final Match: Kasarani Stadium, Nairobi, Kenya – August 30, 2025
Super Eagles Nest
Zanzibar’s iconic Amaan Stadium has been designated to host Group D fixtures. This stadium, which recently hosted the 2024/25 CAF Confederation Cup Final, will now provide the stage for Nigeria, Congo, Senegal, and Sudan as they battle for a spot in the knockout phase.
This decision highlights CAF’s growing commitment to football development and inclusivity across the continent by spotlighting emerging football destinations like Zanzibar — a Tanzanian archipelago famed for its cultural heritage and scenic beaches.
