Cisse’s standout performance came in the second half, where his flair and creativity were on full display.
Cisse was first discovered in Conakry three years ago and nurtured by Baba Arigo at 36 Lion Football Club. Now, he’s making waves in Brazil.
In a statement to the media on Tuesday, Hajji Gafar expressed immense pride in Cisse’s performance.
“I watched the match online and was filled with joy. At 36 Lion, we are incredibly proud to see a talent we identified in Conakry excelling on a new stage,” he said.
“Mamady Cisse, the young talent we scouted from Guinea, has now signed a three-year contract with Club Atlético Mineiro in Brazil—becoming the first African player to achieve such a feat in Belo Horizonte.
This milestone reinforces our commitment to developing players who can make direct transitions to top footballing nations.”
Gafar also highlighted Cisse’s unique style of play. “His combination of flair, instinctive playmaking, and physical balance sets him apart on the pitch.”
He also gave special recognition to those who played a role in Cisse’s journey: Mr. Sheku Sheriff, Ally Badara Sampou of Academie Atouga Foot, and Cem Sagar, CEO of Diamond Sports Management.
With a strong debut behind him, Mamady Cisse now sets his sights on earning a place in Atlético Mineiro’s senior team.
