Ogun2025: Bayelsa’s Emmanuel Patricia Vows to Pursue Arm Wrestling After Debut Loss

At the 22nd National Sports Festival, Emmanuel Patricia of Bayelsa State competed in the 95kg category of the arm wrestling demonstration event, marking her debut in the sport. Although she didn’t secure a win, Patricia expressed deep enthusiasm and declared her intention to pursue arm wrestling seriously.

“It’s a nice experience. I think I love this sport, and I would like to continue,” she told Sports247 shortly after her bout.

Patricia had never competed in arm wrestling before but quickly adapted after participating in a training seminar held a day prior to the event.

“Yesterday, they put us through. I picked one or two things they taught us and applied it. It wasn’t easy, though.”

Despite her loss, Patricia remained upbeat, highlighting how much she learned from observing her more experienced opponents.

“I actually learnt a lot from the previous contestants—some skills, some positions. I learnt a lot. I’m going home with a lot of experience.”

Asked whether she would consider taking the sport beyond the national level, she responded confidently:

“Sure, I will. And I will win.”

Emmanuel Patricia may have entered the festival as a newcomer, but her passion and determination suggest that her arm wrestling journey is just beginning.
