“It Will Take a Miracle”: Samson Siasia Casts Doubt on Super Eagles’ World Cup Hopes

Former Super Eagles coach Samson Siasia has expressed deep concern over Nigeria’s chances of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, stating that it would now require a “miracle” for the team to secure a spot in the tournament.

In a recent interview, Siasia acknowledged the slim mathematical possibility of qualification but emphasized the need for realism.

He urged all stakeholders to focus on thorough preparation and unity ahead of the remaining qualifiers.

“We have to be realistic,” Siasia remarked. “Even though there’s still a slim chance, it would require a miracle for us to make it.

Everyone involved needs to put everything together when the team reconvenes for the qualifiers.”

Nigeria’s current position in the qualification standings places them in a challenging spot, trailing the group leaders by four points.

With only a few matches left, the Super Eagles must secure victories in all remaining games and hope for favorable outcomes in other fixtures to keep their World Cup dreams alive.

Siasia’s comments come at a time when the national team is under scrutiny for inconsistent performances and administrative challenges.

He emphasized the importance of collective effort and strategic planning to navigate the difficult path ahead.

“It’s not just about the players on the pitch,” he added. “The coaching staff, the football federation, and the fans all have roles to play. We need to come together, support the team, and ensure that we do everything possible to turn things around.”

As the Super Eagles prepare for their upcoming fixtures, the nation watches with bated breath, hoping for a turnaround that could see Nigeria make a miraculous entry into the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
