NWFL SUPER-6: Goodness Osigwe Leads Edo Queens’ Charge For Trophy; Says ‘We Know What We Came Here To Do’

Rave of the moment in the ambitious squad of Edo Queens, Goodness Osigwe is leading the Benin City-based club’s charge to retain the Nigerian Women Football League (NWFL) Super-6 trophy this Saturday in Ikenne.

Sports247 gathered that the enterprising lass is seeking more glory, after getting off Edo Queens’ bench to net the only goal in her side’s victory over Bayelsa Queens of Yenagoa on Thursday.

It took only ten minutes for Goodness Osigwe to make her mark, as she entered the fray in the 35th and struck in the 45th to cap a resurgence that kept the holders in contention for the title up until this Saturday, when they play their last match of the series versus Nasarawa Amazons of Lafia.

While The Amazons have eight points to top the log, Edo Queens are level on seven with Bayelsa Queens and hosts Remo Ladies of Ikenne, but Osigwe is happy with the opportunity they have of fighting until the last day.

Osigwe exclaimed, “I feel so happy, and I’m glad for the team, because this is an opportunity for us too.

We really know what we came here to do. We didn’t come out here to relax. I am also happy that I came in as a substitute, and I scored our only goal.”

She then spoke about her role as a super-sub in the encounter, entering the game after only 35 minutes of play, which she described as an idea that only the coach, Moses Aduku, can explain.

“The coach knows his reason for starting me on the bench and then telling me to go in. The reason is best known to him; but I’m happy that I went in, and I still scored,” Osigwe enthused.
