Coinciding with the 22nd National Sports Festival, this landmark meeting promises to be a game-changer for the coaching profession in Nigeria.

With thousands of members drawn from every sport recognized by the National Sports Commission and the Nigerian Olympic Committee, SCAN is poised to reshape the future of sports coaching in the country.

The meeting, scheduled for 11:00 am, will precede the grand Opening Ceremony of the National Sports Festival at the newly refurbished Moshood Abiola Sports Complex in Abeokuta—offering members a day rich in unity, celebration, and purpose.

Top of the agenda is Coaches Welfare—an issue that has long been a source of concern among members. Discussions will center on the importance of contractual agreements, fair treatment, and the optimal application of coaching expertise.

With coaches attending from every corner of the country and even from the diaspora, the event offers a rare chance for face-to-face networking, mentorship, and professional development.

“This is not just a meeting—it’s a movement,” a SCAN spokesperson said. “We’re taking concrete steps to ensure that our coaches are not just respected, but empowered.”

Participants will also benefit from shared insights on coaching at elite sporting events, gaining the confidence and knowledge required to lead athletes to glory—statewide and on the global stage.

As Nigeria continues to push for excellence in sports, SCAN is calling on all coaches to seize this golden opportunity to learn, connect, and elevate their game.

“Together, we coach. Together, we win.”
