Mathematical Osigwe’s Solo Strike Lifts Edo Queens Over Bayelsa in Super 6 Thriller

In a tightly contested Super 6 encounter at the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State, Edo Queens edged past Bayelsa Queens 1-0, thanks to a decisive 45th-minute goal by substitute Goodness Osigwe.

Osigwe, who entered the match before the half-hour mark, made an immediate impact. Just before halftime, she connected with a precise pass from Emem Essien across the six-yard box, slotting the ball past Bayelsa Queens’ goalkeeper, Monle Omini. Her introduction revitalized Edo Queens’ attack, culminating in the crucial goal that ultimately decided the match.

The second half saw both teams intensify their efforts. Bayelsa Queens came close to equalizing when their striker faced a one-on-one situation with Edo Queens’ goalkeeper, Uzoma Ijeoma, who produced a remarkable save to maintain her team’s lead.

In the closing minutes, Chioma Moses nearly doubled the lead for Edo Queens, only to see her effort hit the woodwork.

This victory marks Edo Queens’ second win in four Super 6 matches, bringing their total to seven points.

Bayelsa Queens also have seven points from four games. Edo Queens will face Nasarawa Amazons in their final match, aiming to secure the Super 6 title.
