All eyes will this Thursday be on Nasarawa Amazons of Lafia’s new scoring sensation, Janet Akekoromowei, as the lanky lass aims to hit home her fifth goal in this year’s Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL) Super-6.
Sports247 reports that ‘Jumpy Jane’ has already scored in each of her team’s first three matches of the ongoing NWFL Super-6 at Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne, Ogun State and expectations are high that she will add to her tally this Thursday.

The fast-rising star set the stage for anxious moments with a confession of her desire to lead The Amazons to this year’s league trophy and she promised to go all out when the club from Nasarawa State battle hosts Remo Ladies in one of three matchday four games.
Permutations are also buzzing among supporters and rivals alike for another evening of wonders from Akekoromowei, who opened with a sizzler in the Lafia-based side’s 1-1 draw versus Bayelsa Queens of Yenagoa on matchday one, then knocked in another versus Naija Ratels of FCT, before netting a brace to sink Rivers Angels of Port Harcourt 2-0 on Tuesday.
That has caused trepidation of the highest level to start running through the camp of Remo Ladies of Ikenne ahead of Thursday’s fixture, as the team that started the series on top of the table realise that second placed Nasarawa and Janet keep getting better with each passing game.
The lass of the moment, who netted an amazing haul of 13 goals during the NWFL’s regular season, raised the ante higher in her pre-match comments, as she vowed to keep working hard in order to ensure that her side returns to Lafia as champions of Nigeria’s women’s top-flight league.
“I am always focused and determined. My plan is to ensure that the team gets the result we want in every match. I want to score more goals, and we want to win the Super-6,” Akekeromowei disclosed.
Victory for Nasarawa will set them up for a final day showdown versus equally fearsome and ambitious Edo Queens, in what many observers are already touting as the unofficial title hand over from last year’s champions to the incoming ones.
Akekoromowei and her colleagues may even wrap up the league title with victory over Remo Ladies, unless top placed Bayelsa United also maintain their winning form on Thursday at the same venue in Ikenne.
