Borussia Dortmund of Germany dazzler, Karim David Adeyemi is putting his heart and money into developmental projects in Nigeria because he has a lot of love for the country his father hails from, Sports247 gathered.
Adeyemi disclosed this himself, as he confessed that he loves everything about Nigeria, though he opted to play instead for Germany’s national team.

Sports247 further learnt that the 23-year-old attacking midfielder could indeed have been playing for the Super Eagles had the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) made an early move for his allegiance, but Germany beat them to it.
However, that has not taken anything away from his passion for his father’s country, such that the fair-skinned lad, who was born in Munich but played only at academy level for the city’s top club, Bayern, is proving his love for Nigeria in other ways.
Adeyemi, who previously played for Unterhaching, Red Bull Salzburg and Liefering, disclosed: “I had a dream as a small child. I’d been to Lagos and Ibadan to visit. So, I told my father, ‘When I grow up and have a little money, I want to help people there.’ And that’s what I’ve done.”
He disclosed further in a chat with Germany-based Nigerian journalist, Oma Akatugba: “This project is coming from my heart and with my father helping me. I’m happy to help the people and, at the same time, I am happy to visit these people always.”
Adeyemi has scored a single goal in just six international senior games, with his only strike coming as a substitute against Armenia on his debut in September 2021.
He was also in Germany’s squad to the last World Cup but did not play a single minute because they lost out in the first round, but the lad with a hairstyle of long spikes confessed that he could have been starring for Nigeria instead.
He recalled, “It would have been up to my dad as well. I had offers from Germany and I had a good feeling for them at that time. So, I decided to play for Germany; but I still love Nigeria.
“I listen to the music of Nigeria. Of course, Burna Boy is there. He’s a giant artiste. Ashake also. So, I listen to them, and I enjoy their music. It’s nice to listen to their music and others from Nigeria, too.”
Adeyemi concluded with a hint that he may have to wait until June next year before paying another visit to Nigeria, as he expects a very busy schedule ahead of him with his club at the end of this season and into the next one.
“I may visit Nigeria again, maybe in the winter or next summer. This year is a little bit stressful for everybody because we have the Club World Cup coming up,” Adeyemi rationalised
