After weeks on the sidelines, Niger Tornadoes’ talismanic midfielder Joseph Godstime has returned to full training—bringing with him renewed hope and fire as the Ikon Allah Boys fight to avoid relegation in the NPFL25 season.
Godstime, who leads the club’s scoring chart with 5 goals and 4 assists, missed a large portion of the second half of the season due to injury.
But ahead of their crucial Matchday 36 clash against Abia Warriors at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna, the energetic playmaker says he’s back and ready to make a difference.
“I thank God I’m back in the team with zeal and grace to make it happen,” Godstime told reporters during the team’s final walk-out session. “We have just three games to go. I believe in myself, my teammates, and what we can do to ensure this team stays in the top flight.”
The Tornadoes had a strong start to the campaign, riding high on away wins and team unity. But the second stanza has been marred by injuries to key players, including Godstime, Victor Okoro, and Ifeanyi Okechukwu. Their absence has clearly affected the team’s rhythm and results.
While acknowledging the efforts of his teammates in his absence, Godstime admitted that the injuries took a toll. “It wasn’t easy. The boys gave their all, but missing key players like myself, Victor, and Ifeanyi made things tough,” he said.
Now, with all three players back in the fold, Tornadoes look set to turn the tide, beginning with what could be a season-defining match against Abia Warriors. Godstime is confident, yet grounded: “I can’t do it alone. But together, we’re going for the win.”
With the return of its midfield engine and two more influential players, Tornadoes’ dressing room suddenly feels like a charged battery. The countdown to survival has begun—and Joseph Godstime is ready to lead the charge.
