The Lagos State team participating at the 9th National Youth Games has secured its first set of medals, Gold in Ayo Olopon, and a Silver medal in Karate.
Abdulrahman Ayibo defeated his counterpart from the host State, Delta, to clinch the gold medal in Male’s singles for Team Lagos at the Stephen Keshi National Stadium, Asaba.

Esther Idowu Esho added to the medal haul for Team Lagos by securing the first silver medal by winning four straight rounds in the -47Kg category.
Lagos male football team walloped Yobe to 4-0 in their opening game played at the St. Patrick College, as they proved the level of their competitiveness against the state.
The female team also recorded their second consecutive victory with 2-0 win against Bayelsa to maintain the top spot in their group.
In volleyball, the male team won their first group match against host state, Delta, with 2-0 (25-15, 26-24) while the female volleyball team defeated Edo with 2-0 (25-8, 25-15).
As the games continue today (Sunday), Team Lagos will proceed to various Sports at designated venues in high spirits , as athletes aspire to clinch more medals.
