Prince Adeboye stated as much in an exclusive interview with Sports247, during which he rated the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) low in terms of facilities, standard of play, club commitment and salaries of players.
He added with a heated voice, “The way we run football in Nigeria, we still need to learn a lot. Our football is not growing at all, even at this crucial stage of the NPFL.
“Other countries in world football are looking at us, talk less of top clubs in Europe. Even in Africa, 80% of the leagues are better than our own.
“They pay well, and the facilities they have are a lot. The only NPFL club that owns its facility in Nigeria, out of 20 teams, is Remo Stars, which belongs to Kunle Soname.
“In NNL and NLO, we have club owners who own their own fields or stadiums. So, it’s high time we got it right in the NPFL.
“Before any club can come to play in the NPFL, there must be a certain agreement stipulating the amount that would be paid as a fine before any withdrawal from the league.”
