Nigeria’s 3×3 Basketball Team has secured the country’s first medal at the ongoing maiden edition of the African School Games.

The team, comprising Blessing Inebubaraye Zina, Oghenekevwe Efantella Williams, Khadijah Kuburah Alli, and Angel Osunu Michael, put up a spirited performance but narrowly lost 11-12 to Rwanda in the Gold Medal Match.
With this result, Nigeria settled for Silver, marking a significant milestone for the nation’s participation in the continental school sports event.
The African School Games, inaugurated in 2025, is a multi-sport competition designed to foster youth development and strengthen grassroots sports across Africa.
The event brings together young athletes from different countries to compete in various disciplines, promoting talent discovery, sportsmanship, and continental unity.
Nigeria’s podium finish highlights the potential of its young athletes in shaping the future of African sports.
