The management of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) has issued a stern warning to a radio presenter over what it described as “baseless and unfounded allegations” of match-fixing involving the club and its players.
In a statement released by the club’s Media Officer, Tosin Omojola, 3SC condemned a sports programme aired on an Ibadan-based radio station in which the presenter allegedly accused the club of deliberately throwing matches and bribing officials.

“We are compelled to react swiftly to these baseless, barbaric and unfounded allegations,” the statement read.
“We totally frown on the unprofessional outburst of the presenter, who made references to specific matches and named individuals as culprits without any proof.”
3SC refuted the claim that its chairman, Hon. Babatunde Olaniyan ‘Akoro’, offered bribes to match officials, labeling the accusation as entirely fictitious. The club also corrected what it called factual inaccuracies in the broadcast, particularly the assertion that 3SC drew 2-2 with Katsina United.
“Our game against Katsina United ended in a 1-0 defeat, not a 2-2 draw as claimed,” the club clarified.
The presenter, was also alleged to have accused 3SC of “selling out” matches against Lobi Stars and Remo Stars in Ibadan, comments the club says undermine the integrity of both 3SC and their league opponents.
The club further dismissed the claim that a referee had confided in the presenter about alleged wrongdoing by 3SC players. “These are mere fabrications and a figment of the presenter’s imagination,” the club declared.
In response, 3SC has demanded concrete evidence to support the presenter’s claims, warning that legal action will follow if such proof is not provided.
“Failure to provide evidence will leave us with no option but to take legal action against the presenter and the radio station,” the statement added.
Acknowledging the challenges of the current season, 3SC apologized to its fans and supporters, assuring them of the club’s commitment to integrity and performance as the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season winds down.
“We owe our financier and our backers the duty to finish strong… and will strive to achieve the best results in every game,” the club stated.
The incident has sparked concern within the Nigerian football community as calls for professionalism and accountability in sports media continue to grow.
