32 Teams At War As Ojo Youth Tourney kicks Off

No fewer than 32 teams are expected to take part in the Ojo Youth Championship Cup which kicks off later in the month.

The competition is bankrolled by a Lagos-based lawmaker, Honourable Victor Akande who is representing Ojo Constituency I in Lagos State House of Assembly.

At a draws ceremony held recently, 32 teams are drawn in eight groups as two teams would qualify for the round of 16. Group A comprises Super Strikers FC, Arising Stars FC, Tico FC, and Elute FC.

Group B consists of Oscar Rovers FC, Invisible Leopard FC, Northerners FC, and Owibeseb FC. Group C are made up of Emaljus FC, YMD FC, New Town FC, and Tedi All-Stars. Group D consists of Joint FC, Ajao FC, Milano FC, and LASU School team

Group E are made up of Hass FA, Pillars FC, Leeds United, and Evalight FC. Group F comprises teams like SC Heritage, Bujoc FC, Samba Boys FC, and Sharp FC. Group G are Bosoro FC, Morning Stars FC, Olham FC, and Diamond FC, while group H are made up of Annex FA, FC Monami, Golden FA, and Divine Impact FC.

Speaking with our correspondent, secretary of Awori Football Coaches Council, Osondu Martins Ibegbu commended the cup donor for using his good office to empower youth through sports in Ojo constituency I. He said the competition would bring healthy rivalry among the teams in Ojo urging the participating teams to always abide by the rules and regulations.

“All the teams are ready for the competition. The competition is the talk of the town and I am happy that Honourable Akande has met the expectations of the youths in the area of sports in the Ojo constituency. I urge all the participating teams to shun hooliganism throughout the competition,” he said.

Ibegbu who also doubles as coordinator of Lagos State Senatorial Football Coaches Council said the championship would also bring the best out of the players saying that all the teams have an equal chance to win the tournament.

While tournament coordinator, Azeez Adeshina thanked the cup donor for contributing his own quota to sports development in Ojo local government and promised that the competition would be violence-free.
