A total of 25 coaches drawn from State Sports Councils, Sports Commissions, and various tertiary institutions nationwide are expected to participate.

The programme is designed to deepen coaches’ mastery of taekwondo techniques and align their knowledge with evolving international standards. It aims to equip them with modern coaching methodologies consistent with the International Olympic Committee’s (IOC) objective of nurturing clean, high-performance athletes.

The course will be officially declared open by the President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, Engineer Habu Ahmed Gumel.

Facilitating the training will be Mr. Tae Sung Kwon, an internationally recognized taekwondo expert from Seoul, South Korea, who was appointed by the World Taekwondo Federation. To ensure effective communication, Mr. Kwon will be supported by an interpreter from the Korean Embassy in Abuja.

The event is part of the IOC’s global educational programme under Olympic Solidarity, which seeks to strengthen coaching capacities around the world. Administrative coordination will be handled by NOC Assistant Secretary, Ms. Dolapo Rofiat.

This initiative underscores the commitment of the NOC and NTF to developing grassroots sports and strengthening Nigeria’s presence on the global taekwondo stage.
