Preparations for the 8th African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2025 officially kicked off on Monday as 21 players reported to the Super Eagles B camp in Ikenne-Remo, Ogun State.
The training, held under floodlights at the Remo Stars Sports Institute, marked the team’s first session under new head coach, Eric Sekou Chelle, who recently released a 35-man provisional squad for the continental competition.

The session began at 7 p.m., with Chelle putting the players through their paces in a light workout, as the technical crew awaits the arrival of the remaining 14 players expected to join the camp on Tuesday.
Among the early arrivals were Nduka Junior (Remo Stars), Harrison Austin (Ikorodu City FC), Lawal Mustapha (Shooting Stars), Abdulrafiu Taiwo (Rivers United), and Temitope Vincent (Plateau United).
Other players present included Adedayo Olanipekun (Remo Stars), Shola (Ikorodu City), Nurudeen Badmos (Kwara United), Sadiq Ismail (Remo Stars), Taofeek Otaniyi (Rivers United), Kayode Bankole (Remo Stars), and Ani Henry (Rivers United).
Also in camp were Egbe Stephen (Rivers United), Atule Joseph (Enyimba FC), Tochukwu Michael (Remo Stars), Aniekeme Okon (Rivers United), and Ayomide Cole (Ikorodu City FC).
The list of early arrivals was completed by Sikiru Alimi (Remo Stars), Afeez Bankole (Kwara United), Leonard Ngenge (Ikorodu City FC), and Hadi Haruna (Remo Stars).
Nigeria, runners-up in the 2018 edition of CHAN, will compete in Group D of the 19-nation tournament. The Super Eagles are grouped alongside defending champions Senegal, Sudan, and Congo.
They are scheduled to play their first two group matches against Senegal and Sudan at the Amman Stadium on Zanzibar Island. Their final group encounter against Congo will take place at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
