2024 CHAN: Zanzibar Hold Nigeria as Super Eagles B Intensify Preparations

The home-based Super Eagles B were held to a pulsating goalless draw by Zanzibar in a friendly encounter on Tuesday as part of their build-up to the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).

The match, played in a high-tempo atmosphere, saw new additions to the squad—including midfielder Michael Tochukwu, fullbacks Taiwo Abdulrafiu and Leonard Ngenge, and striker Anthony Ijoma—make strong impressions.

Coach Eric Chelle’s side featured as many as six starters from NPFL champions Remo Stars, reflecting his strategy of building the squad’s core around the league-winning team.

The Zanzibar friendlies are to fine-tune tactics ahead of their campaign.

The Eagles will face Zanzibar again on Thursday in their final test match before heading into the tournament proper this weekend.
