Organizers have raised the stakes by offering the coveted top prize of a return ticket to the United Kingdom, setting the stage for an intense and thrilling competition.

Returning to the Ikeja Golf Club after a six-year hiatus from the Ikoyi Club 1938, this tournament promises to be a grand spectacle of golfing prowess and camaraderie.

Beyond the coveted top prize, players who excel in the competition will have the opportunity to claim additional exciting prizes.

During a media parley held in Lagos over the weekend, Uwamai Igbein, Chairman of the Nigeria-British Chamber of Commerce Golf Committee, revealed that over 21 teams have already signed up for the tournament.

The competition extends generous rewards to the runners-up, offering two nights at the Marriott Hotel Ikeja for the second-placed team and two nights for the third-placed team.

In addition to individual recognition and accolades, winning teams and sponsors who have been instrumental in the tournament’s success over the years will be honored with prestigious trophies.

Participating organizations are expected to register four players who will compete for points in the Stableford competition. The winner will be determined based on the accumulated points, making every stroke and decision on the golf course pivotal.

Furthermore, the tournament’s unique format allows for the inclusion of both male and female players, who will engage in both individual and collective battles at the Ikeja Golf Club. This inclusive approach adds an extra layer of excitement to the competition.

Tayo Babalakin, Vice Chairman of the Nigeria-British Golf Committee, highlighted the Chamber’s objective of fostering networking and camaraderie among its members.

He emphasized that the competition is open to any organization interested in participating, with hopes of expanding the tournament to other states in the future, starting with the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

Notably, Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu will grace the event as the special guest of honor during the closing ceremony. Greenwich Merchant Bank serves as the main sponsor of this prestigious tournament, further elevating its status.

The Nigeria-British Chamber of Commerce (NBCC), with over 400 members in Nigeria, continues its mission of promoting trade and investment between Nigeria and Britain.

Established in 1977, the NBCC is affiliated with the British Chamber of Commerce, granting its members access to a vast network of 53 chambers across the UK and 71 other international affiliates from various sectors of the economy.

With a combined membership strength exceeding 400 and a total net worth of approximately N200 billion, the NBCC remains dedicated to adding value to its members while serving as a vital conduit for trade between Nigeria and Britain.

The 2023 Golf Tournament is another manifestation of the chamber’s commitment to nurturing bonds and fostering excellence within its community.
