2023 LSSC Set To Thrill With Over 3,000 Clubs

In an exciting development for grassroots football in Lagos, the 2023 Lagos Street Soccer Championship (LSSC) is gearing up to showcase the talents of over 3,000 clubs next month, with Surulere Local Council proudly hosting the event’s opening ceremony.

The announcement was made by Bolaji Yusuf, Chairman of the Lagos Street Soccer body, who expressed enthusiasm for the revival of this championship, originally launched in 2008 by the Lagos State Football Association.

Surulere was granted the honor of hosting the championship this year, following careful deliberations by the Lagos Street Soccer committee, in collaboration with the Lagos State Football Association.

Bolaji Yusuf emphasized how the LSSC has evolved in scope and significance, emerging as a powerful platform for nurturing football talent at the grassroots level since its inception.

Sulaiman Bamidele Yusuf, the Surulere Council Chairman, expressed gratitude to both the Lagos State FA and the street soccer body for entrusting the council with the responsibility of hosting the event’s grand opening ceremony.

He acknowledged the crucial role of sports in engaging the youth of Surulere and pledged full commitment to realizing this vision.

Yusuf extended his commendations to the Lagos FA, led by Fouad Oki, for their commendable efforts in revitalizing grassroots football within the state.

He further promised that the council would collaborate with various stakeholders to ensure a spectacular and fitting opening ceremony for the championship.

Highlighting the championship’s significance, Yusuf reiterated his support for this initiative that has spanned over seven seasons, involving more than 3,000 teams and benefiting over 30,000 players and officials across all 377 wards in Lagos State.

The LSSC has played a pivotal role in nurturing football talents, enriching the grassroots football ecosystem, and contributing to the overall development of the sport in Lagos.
