The Authentic Nigeria Football and Allied Sports Supporters Club (ANFASSC), has described the performance of the country’s women’s football national team (Super Falcons) as fantastic and one worthy of praise.
Despite playing with nine women for the better part of their Semi-final clash with Morocco in the semi-final of the 2022 Women Africa Cup of Nations, the nine-time African champions narrowly lost 5-4 on penalties.
The National President of ANFASSC, Prince Abayomi Ogunjimi said yesterday’s spirited performance will linger for long, he also hailed the players for giving the country worthy representation.
In his words “That was a spirited performance, Nigerians won’t ever forget this set of heroines, it was a fantastic outing and they deserve every accolade they get for such bravery”
“Heroines in defeat is exactly who they are, I can’t seem to get it off my head, it was a stunning show, relentless effort. It’s a difficult thing to play very fast opponents when you are at a numerical disadvantage, but our Falcons fought till the end”
Prince Ogunjimi also opined that it would be deserving to treat them to a heroic welcome upon returning to the country from the continental showpiece.
He assured that they wouldn’t lack the presence of the Supporters club when they begin their world cup campaign in 2023 in Australia and New Zealand.
