2022/2023 NPFL Championship Play-offs – “We Came For The Maximum Points”, Finidi George Bemoans Enyimba Draw Against Bendel Insurance

Finidi George, Enyimba’s head coach has bemoaned his team’s 1-1 draw against Bendel Insurance staking claiming that they were the better side of the two while also clamoring for proper officiating in the next games following a series of protests on wrong calls from the center referee in a big disadvantage to his side.

A win for Enyimba could have guaranteed them an automatic spot in CAF continental games but their hopes were spurned by a resilient Bendel Insurance to continue their unbeaten run.

Speaking to press men after the game, Finidi George the Super Eagles ex-international who lost his center defender in the early hours of the game allayed that the hectic fixtures are one of the contributing factors but it’s nothing serious to about and the condition of the pitch is a good one for the type of pattern they play.

“We know football is not easy and it is what it is. We have to accept the result and be positive in the next game. This is the type of pitch we have in Aba, we are not new to it, it’s a good one to allow free-flowing football and we made use of it. Our second half was brilliant and I must commend my boys although we lost two points it was a wonderful performance,” he posited.

“We are quite disappointed because a win could have guaranteed us a spot in CAF continental games but there are many things to say which I can’t talk about, I thought we are bigger than this, a live match shouldn’t be this way but we will move on.”

“My players are all fine, just my center back that had a few hamstring issues but the rest, it’s a normal thing when you play matches every two days and we played all our games by 2 pm and it’s really energy sapping but I think, we will get the boys back for the next game,” he states to clear doubts on injuries to key players.

“I knew this game was going to be difficult as you have to fight in every game but I think we deserved to have won it but what can I say? You all saw all that has been happening and officiating like this should be top-notch but we have to protest every action which is not the best, I’m worried about what I saw and it’s quite disappointing but we will move forward in the next games and see what happens.”
