2020 CBN Tennis Open: “I Was Not Very Prepared For The Competition” Says Ogah After Defeat

Omotayo Osewa, Former Nigerian number one won Loveth Ogah 4-2 5-3 in the women’s preliminary stages of the ongoing CBN Senior Open Tennis championship banking on her enormous bag of experience during the second round match played at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja to claim victory.

The tournament which began on Friday with the qualifiers is expected to end on Nov. 14.

Inadvertently, Ogah who suffered defeat appeared to be unfit and was forced into many errors which Osewa capitalised upon to seal victory admitted that she was unfit and not prepared for the competition.

“I was not very prepared for the competition. COVID-19 contributed to it as I was also playing a former national number one and it was not easy. Even at her age, she is still so good,” Ogah stated.

The experienced player further allayed, “My opponent was not a pushover. So, I knew I had to stay focused. There were times when I knew that my experience helped me to steal some points. Hopefully, I will be able to qualify for the main draw which begins on Monday,” she said.
