The organisers of South East South South (Anambra State) pre-season tournament for 2019 wish to regrettably announce that the tournament would no longer hold.
We are compelled to call off the tournament due to administrative bottlenecks occasioned by the Anambra State Football Association.
It would be recalled that the FA stopped the kick-off of the pre-season which was billed to originally commence on August 20, 2019, a day before take-off on the grounds that the organisers did not properly inform them of the programme.
Again, the FA stopped the take-off of the pre-season September 3, 2019, after arrangement had been concluded to kick start the tournament on September 5, 2019, without reasons.
This was after a meeting between the State FA and the organisers at the Secretariat on August 23 on the need to reschedule and define roles.
Having stopped the tournament from taking off twice which speaks volume on the state FA’s reluctance to grant us go ahead and based on the fact that the NPFL break is fast coming to an end, we are left with no other option than to call the programme off.
We appreciate those who demonstrated a willingness to partner us including club owners, sponsors, owners of NEROS Sports stadium, Nanka who made the facility available to us and the teeming football fans.
We regret the inconvenience and look forward to better future engagements.
