2019 Election: Ejidike, Ikpea urge athletes to vote wisely

As the rescheduled presidential and national assembly elections hold tomorrow Saturday, 23rd February,2019, across the nation, eligible Nigerian athletes have been advised to go out in their large numbers to excersise their rights.

Speaking to the press in Ilorin, Nigeria’s Pillar Of Sports, Chief Donatus Agu- Ejidike, urge all eligible Nigerian athletes to go out tomorrow to vote for the candidates of their choice.
Adding that they should take their destiny in their hands, particularly, as it concerns their career and their future.

” I want to advise that our athletes become serious as the results of the national elections would surely affect their lives and their careers. They should eschew nonchalance and play active parts in the electoral processes to choose their leaders for another four years,” Ejidike, a multi traditional title holder admonished.

In the same vein, the national chairman of the Nigeria Football Supporters’ club, Rev. Samuel Ikpea insisted that Nigerian athletes should leave their fences and join the fray to elect their national leaders.

” I think it is time our athletes stop what I would call ‘ siddon look’ and join the electoral processes to select their leaders.
” Much more, this is also the opportunity for them to assert their rights as Nigerians. And protect their careers rather than standing aloof and allowing square pegs get into the round holes,” Ikpea advised.
