2019 Bet9ja Royal Cup:Frenzied Race, as More Teams Qualify for Knockout Stage

The race for qualification spots in the Round of 16 in the 2019 Bet9ja Royal Cup got more frenzied on Tuesday, October 22,2019, as more teams advanced from their respective groups.

Henfield Academy and Rolly FC both recorded a 1 – 0 triumph in Group B over Unity FC and Visionaries FC respectively to leapfrog into the knockout phase.

 

The only fixture in Group D saw De Unique FC hammering Maro11 Speedstar Academy expectedly 6 – 0 to win the group on six points and qualify for the next round.

This result equally guaranteed Young Professionals safe passage into the knockout phase.

The intrigues of Matchday 3 got more intense with the dramatic finale in Group F.

Partakers FC of Agbor did not turn up for their last group game and their opponents, 90 FC, had a walkover and three goals and three points awarded to them to heighten the prevailing mathematical uncertainty at the time.

At about the same time, the tie between Jeremi United and Aladja United in Oleh could not produced an outright winner before the 90th minute mark, as the game eventually ended in a 2 – 2 draw.

The result from Oleh gave 90 FC cruise control of the group as winners with five points, with Jeremi United and Aladja United all equally finishing on five points, but the former going through a slim goal difference advantage.

Already through to the next stage of the Royal Cup are: Rolly FC and Henfield Academy (Group B) FC Galaxy and Golden Friends (Group C), De Unique and Young Professionals (Group D), Lord Honour and Osevan FC (Group E), and 90FC and Jeremi United (Group F).
