What is 1xCup?
1xCup is an annual amateur football competition for Nigerian squads, organized by the global bookmaker 1xBet. Each match is more than just a game; it is an event that brings people together, fosters team spirit, and strengthens community bonds.
The tournament’s history began in 2023 when over 40 squads competed on the pitches of Lagos. The final match concluded with a victory for Bariga FC over Odion Ighalo Academy, with a score of 2-0, earning the team the main prize of 1,000,000 NGN.
In 2024, the competition grew even further: over 160 squads registered to participate, and the prize fund increased to an impressive 20,000,000 NGN. The final was held at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, where FC Bethel Sporting defeated Gunners Link FC 2-1. The top scorer, Nwanna Okechukwu, signed a contract with professional club Ikorodu City.
New season – new opportunities
In 2025, the tournament is set to grow even bigger! The competition will feature 64 teams from all over Nigeria. It will include a group stage followed by knockout matches. Each game promises to be exciting and intense, with even more goals, thrilling moments, and dramatic endings.
The prize pool is once again impressive – over 20,000,000 NGN, distributed as follows:
- The winner will receive 10,000,000 NGN;
- The silver medalist will receive 5,000,000 NGN;
- The bronze medalist will receive 3,000,000 NGN.
Additionally, there will be special awards for the best players: top scorer, MVP, best goal, best goalkeeper, best squad, best coach, the audience award, and the opportunity to attend the Nigeria national team matches at the Africa Cup of Nations in December 2025!
