16-Year-Old Dotun Ogunkoya Set for Gothia Cup After Success with Valencia FC Academy

Oluwasomidotun “Dotun” Ogunkoya, a 16-year-old footballer currently playing for the Dallas Hornets MLS 2 team, is set to participate in the upcoming Gothia Cup in Sweden following a standout stint at the Valencia FC Academy in Spain.

Dotun began playing football at age 3 and has consistently shown advanced skill and dedication. On March 21, 2025, he led his high school varsity team to a 1–0 playoff victory, scoring the only goal of the match.

During his recent training period with Valencia FC Academy, Dotun was recognised as the fastest player, top scorer, and overall MVP. He received a cup, a certificate, and a gold medal, with coaches praising his work ethic, humility, and teamwork.

Before the Gothia Cup, Dotun will feature in a friendly match in Sweden. Known for his speed and discipline on and off the field, he aims to establish himself professionally in Europe and aspires to represent Nigeria at the national level.

Ogunkoya’s performances are drawing growing interest from scouts and football enthusiasts ahead of one of the world’s premier youth tournaments.
